| The handle is covered with substitute ray skin (difficult to find in this scale)and then wrapped with a special cord to be as accurate as I can make it.The handle is removable by pulling one brass pin, as it should be. The Menuki are made of sheet brass. The habaki is made of solid copper, drilled out, filed, and actually forged to fit the blade the way it should. |

| All of the scabbard bands are drilled and filed out of solid 1/4" thick brass so that there are no solder joints to come apart later. Both end caps are carved out of solid brass, pierced, with a Mother of Pearl inlay. |
