Objective

A software development position in an organization where quick learning and flexibility will be needed to deliver products to the market on time without sacrificing quality.

Summary

Over 13 years experience performing software system test on network communication equipment and products.

Especially skilled in developing test automation in a Windows, Linux, UNIX and embedded environment.

A quick learner with excellent problem solving and debugging skills.

Skills & Accomplishments

Selected skills and accomplishments

·         Proficient at programming in C, C++, UNIX shell scripting, SilkTest, Visual Test, TCL/Expect, and PERL. Familiarity with SQL, Crystal Reports, SilkPerformer, SilkPlan, Visual Basic, and TCL/TK.

·         Excellent understanding of TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, Q.921/931, and SNMP network protocols.

·         Recruited and directed a team of six people with quality assurance and software development backgrounds. The team’s charter was to create automated testing solutions for Intel’s WSO products (Shiva LanRover Access Switch, Shiva Access Manager, and Intel NetStructure VPN Gateway).  The team reduced the manual regression testing by 50%.

·         Facilitated a cross functional team to select a source control management system for Intel’s Network Processor Division.  Team researched various tools on the market and developed a recommendation that I presented to the division’s management.  The recommendation was adopted and the tool was purchased.

·         Developed and delivered internal training on SilkTest and automated test strategies for Intel’s Network Processor Division.  Continuing to provide support to team members in different locations as they have started to use SilkTest and automate their testing.

·         Proposed, designed and implemented a Test Automation Framework using off the shelf software.  The test automation framework supports testing by providing scheduling, result collection and reporting functions for regression testing.

·         Designed and developed a test framework to test WAN provisioning, IPX SAP Filter, RADIUS authentication and other features of the Shiva LanRover.  Designed and developed test systems for testing the IXA SDK that reduced manual regression testing time over 90%.

Experience

9/2000 – Present – Network Processor Division – Intel, Hudson, MA

Senior Network Software Engineer – NPD SWS System Validation

Designed and implemented test tools for testing IXA SDK, IXP Developers Workbench, Microengine C Networking Library, and PA-100 cryptographic accelerator daughter card. Performed requirements validation on IXA SDK 3.x.

·         Designed and developed a regression test for the IXA SDK Developers Workbench.  Performed requirements validation on the IXA SDK 3 and the Intel Microengine C Network Library for the IXP1200 Network Processor.

·         Provided internal training on SilkTest and automated test strategies.  Continuing to provide support for several team members in different locations as they have started to use SilkTest and automate their testing.

·         Facilitated a cross functional team to select a source control management system.  Team researched various tools on the market and developed a recommendation that I presented to the division’s management.  The recommendation was adopted and the tool was purchased.

·         Proposed, designed and implemented a Test Automation Framework (TAF) built on off the shelf software.  The test automation framework supports testing by providing scheduling, result collection and reporting functions for regression testing.

·         Assisted with migration to new defect tracking system by writing a C++ program to extract all attachments from the old database and providing the files to be imported into the new database.

·         Designed a PKCS#11 test specification and automated test system for the PA-100 cryptographic accelerator daughter card.

2/1997 – 9/2000 – WAN Systems Operation - Intel (formerly Shiva), Bedford, MA

Senior Network Software Engineer - Tools & Automation Team Lead

·         Recruited and built a team from two to six software developers in about 1 year.  Mentored team with technical advice and methodical problem solving.  Provided day to day management and performance reviews.  Assisted team with design and develop test tools for WSO products.

·         Designed and developed a test system written in TCL/Expect to test various WAN provisions and different call types (i.e., V.110, V.120, V.90, etc.), IPX SAP Filtering, and RADIUS authentication on the Shiva LanRover

·         Deployed TestExpert a test management system for capturing test results and executing tests.  Prototyped a TCL-CGI interface to TestExpert.

·         Assisted Intel Dialogic with function testing of Volume Control and Speed Control on SR5.0 (R4 API on DM3) using Dialogic’s Internal Functional Test system.

7/1993 – 2/1997 – Shiva Corporation, Bedford, MA

Software Quality Assurance Engineer – LanRover Firmware Test Team

·         Wrote test specifications and tested Shiva Net Manager, HP OpenView Applet for Shiva, LAN-to-LAN, Virtual Connections, L2F, Synchronous DTE support, Leased Line with v.34 modems, various releases v.34 modem card firmware and ISDN BRI on the LanRover family of products.

·         Automated 50% of Shiva Net Manager testing using Segue SilkTest.  Developed test tools to measure performance of a remote connection.

·         Worked closely with development engineers to diagnose and correct difficult to reproduce defects on many occasions.

·         Researched and evaluated ISDN/Serial/Network Analyzers.   Provided recommendations and demonstrated products to all stakeholders.  Used the recommended analyzers to perform LanRover Testing.

·         Tested the LanRover product line with ANVL.  Investigated and documented each anomalous result.

1/1991 – 7/1993 – Cabletron Systems Inc., Durham, NH

Software Quality Assurance Engineer - Tools and Methodology Team

·         Designed, wrote, and executed test plans for Remote LanView for Windows, Remote LanView for SNM, NIC software, and Spectrum Auto-Discovery module.

·         Principle engineer for the design and coding of Spectrum’s Extension Toolkit conformance test used by third party developers.

·         Developed automated test tools using C, C++ and UNIX Shell Scripts.

·         Evaluated GUI testing products and provided input in recommending a single solution to be used throughout the company.
