I, the wolf, with brothers near, Once roamed the forest without fear, And I, the hawk, with wings to sky, Far above the wolf pack's cry, Once sailed the wind from cloud to tree, Fearless, secure, and forever free, But now Man's shadow has come to cast, Our glorious future to a silent past! - j.p. dowers (WolfHawk) |

The survival of the wolf depends on the pack, the survival of the pack depends on the wolf! Legends and superstitions have plagued these beautiful creatures for centuries, yet when all the tales have been set aside, we find there is much to learn. I will never understand why people will wait until they have driven a species to near extinction before they even bother with trying to learn about and from it. Maybe it's the old "strength in numbers" theory. We feel more secure when there is more of us than them. Quite sad, don't you think?
The wolf has always deserved our respect and admiration, they have lived by the same codes and social structures for centuries, a remarkable feat...one that we humans have yet to master!
You will never find a dead-beat dad among the pack, for when a wolf mates, it mates for life...there has been only ONE documented case insofar as where a male wolf has mated with two females, and while he resided with the first female, he would visit the second female and his litter with her throughout that year.
