| From Longsheng we drove to Yangshuo, a sort of hippy-ish hangout. We walked along this market a few times, and bought the odd CD and DVD. | |
| Yangshuo is surrounded by these very odd hills, I would imagine the place looks like it's got acne from a certain height. Nevertheless, the surrounding countryside was beautiful. Sadly, the mountain trek at Londi knackered my knee so I couldn't join the girls on their boat trip and bike ride. | |
| We went to see cormrorants fishing at night. It was quite extraordinary. We were drive by a chap who spoke no English, and as we were trundling in a minivan down unlit roads we were thinking things ranging from "we're being ripped off" to "we're going to be robbed" to "we're going to die". All quite wrong. We were about to be amazed/ | |
| The cluster of fuzzy things round the light? Insects. Gazillions of them. Some of them it as well. We covered up and watched the birdies. | |
| Some of those hills in full view | |
| Yangshuo was our last stop in China. On the way to the airport at Guilin to take the plane to Hong Kong we stopped off at the Reed Flute Caves. Jaws hit the ground again as we marvelled at what we saw. | |
| Spooky. | |
| Ok, the lighting was not natural, but it brought out the detail in the stalactites and stalagmites. | |
| The picture really doesn't do it justice. | |
| Very spooky. | |
| After waiting about 96 years at Guilin airport, and going through some very rudimentary SARS checks and a 2-hour flight delay, we arrived at night in Hong Kong. SARS and the endless whinging of various people down the phone and by email meant I left the next morning, having seen damn-all of Hong Kong. Here's a bit of it. | |

Sadly, it's time to go home
