Safe Handling / Storage Techniques
Potassium Sorbate is a potassium salt version of sorbic acid, a polyunsaturated fat used to reduce mold growth.  It should be kept in a tightly closed container, and stored in a cool, dry ventilated area.  Containers that have held this component may be hazardous after they're emptied, since they keep hold of product residues (such as dust) afterwards.  It also must be protected from excessive light and heat.  Because it is a water soluble, it must remain dry during storage.

If someone inhales a lot of it at a time, make sure they get moved away from the component and receive plenty of fresh air.  If they have any difficulty breathing afterwards, they should receive medical attention as soon as possible.

If large amounts of it are swallowed at a time, they should drink plenty of water and receive medical attention.

If it comes in contact with their skin, they should wash the exposed areas with soap and water, and if irritation develops, they should receive medical attention.

If it gets in their eyes, they should wash them thoroughly with water, and receive medical attention if irritation develops.
