Himachal Pradesh. There is no major tourist attraction in this distt. But some
temples and historical places can be developed as tourist points.
History
This history of Hamirpur is closely associated with the
Katoch dynasty. Hamirpur was the part of old Jallandhar-Trigarta empire. Panin
referred to the people of this Kingdom as great warrious and fighters. The
Katoch dynast became predominating during the period of Raja Hair Chand who
ruled from 1700 A.D. to 1740 A.D. It was Raja Hamir Chand who built the fort at
Hamirpur and the present town derived its name from this ruler.
