| Charger Preperations | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My car was stripped to bare metal on the outside. There are no dents or body flaws now but, both quarter panels have been replaced and the roof came off of a donor charger. The underbody has been stripped and Rhino lined, the front now has factory 11" disc brakes, the wheel wells in the rear are now mini tubbed. The 318 engine got evicted, the power steering too, and the factory A/C got the boot also, The interior is not factory colors any more it's been done in a two tone scheme of red and black on the seats and door panels using carbon fiber vinyl and other materials. A custom console was made, the dash cluster has autometer gauges now in a custom dash panel. The headliner is an original perforated replacement in black and the carpet is a cut pile replacement from Auto Custom Carpets. The engine is a 440 bored .030, 10:5:1, forged crank. It's been balanced. It makes about 600 Hp& 637 Ft/Tq. The engine rebuild was about 2 years ago. So every thing has been waiting for all of the prep work to be completed, hemi oil pan, MSD 6AL ignition, 800 Cfm Edelbrock carb and intake, jet hot headers, and a 11" flywheel. The tranmission will soon be a 6 speed with a hydraulic cluth actuator, it has a hayes 2700 Lbs pressure plate & 18 spline clutch disc. The rear end is the original #489, 8 3/4 rear narrowed with (3:55 gears), but it will soon be a Dana 60 with a Pro Street Ladder-bar suspension. Sub Frame connectors have been added to the unibody. The wheels are Weld Draglites. Rear tires are Hoosier Pro Street Radials (29.5 x 15.5 x 15), the front tires are (28.5 x 9 x 15). A custom CD/MP3 player sound system is installed, and also an vintage air A/C setup. My charger will be a daily driver weather permitting. Most of the thanks goes out to Chubbs, Jim and friends at the (Body Shop) for all of the sheet metal and body work preperation. Keith and Chris put the paint and final finish on the car body and to Robert A.K.A. (Lee) he made most of the interior parts all over again, and made some new custom interior parts and pieces for the car, all of the guys above made the car into what it is now, Thanks. |
