My eyes shifted back and forth, like the eyes on one of those
cat clocks. Thunderous pounds surrounded me, like there was a war
close by. The streets were filled with a thick fog, like steam rising
from a lake on a cold morning. I walk down the fog-covered street,
a car far off in the distance was heading towards me. There was a
cat in the middle of the street as the car drove towards it. It was
paralyzed with fear like a deer in headlights. The car came to a
screeching stop, the cat darted off like a wild animal that heard a gun
shot. Off in the distance you could hear a child crying, it echoed
through the streets like a police siren. Down the street a figure
appears through the fog, only the outline can be seen. The figure
moves like a shadow on the wall, disappearing if you blink for a second.
I walked down the street some more, neon light signs light up the night
and they dance in the darkness. Standing out like a white dot on
a sheet of black paper. I walked by an ally full of garbage, were
stray dog were looking for food. As I walked by I must have caught
there attention. They look at me like I was there next meal, growls
began to come from the ally way. I began to run the dogs started
in pursuit, it looked like a dog race, and I was the rabbit that the dogs
were chasing. As I was running the dogs got closer and closer.
It felt like one of those nature shows there the pack of wolves chased
their prey. As I was running I threw objects down behind me to slow
the hungry beasts down. I came to a fence at the end of an ally way,
I climbed it as fast as I could. It was like a squirrel fleeing for
its life up a tree. As I’d hoped the dogs were stuck on some of the
objects I threw behind, I was also behind the safety of the fence.
Which was like being behind bulletproof glass in a gun shoot out.
I made my way back out to the street trying to catch me breath from the
chase and the excitement. I felt like a smoker that was having a
hard time breathing. I made my way to a bus stop, the bus arrived
and I bored. The bus began on its way and started to pass over a bridge.
As I relaxed in the back of the bus, a loud popping noise occurred, like
someone popped a paper bag but intensified by ten times. The bus
veered off to one side, and crashed through the rails on the bridge.
The bus fell like a brick from the top of a building, I could see the pavement
racing toward the bus. I saw the front end of the bus hit first and
the bus crumpled, like stepping on an empty can of pop. Just before
I hit the pavement my eyes opened and I sat up, quickly scanning my surroundings
like and animal that just got dropped into the zoo. Realizing I was in
my room and it was just a dream I let out a sigh of relief and went back
to sleep.
