After doing YNOT on another board last year, I decided to bring it over here to CC.com and see what the response would be.  Turns out the response was quite positive!!  We had a great time answering yes/no questions, picking tiebreakers and selecting sigs for the unlucky losers.  The web site is still up, but here is a wrap-up of the 2003 YNOT season.

 

Cal Ripken Award—The ironman himself.  The only one out of 51 posters that played this year.  Oberkfell3B played in all 52 YNOTs, setting a new record.  (Last year there were only 51 YNOTs at the other location.)

 

New York Yankees Award—Given to the poster with the most wins over the season.  riskrow dominated this category, winning 7 times (Games 8, 13, 28, 33, 35, 36, and 37).  The next closest was 4 (davidb2005, laughing man, Chief Redbird).

 

Detroit Tigers Award—Given to the poster with the most losses over the season.  riskrow dominated this one as well, with a mind-blowing 12 losses on the season (Games 4, 5, 9, 18, 20, 31, 32, 34, 38, 42, 44, 45).  The next closest:  4 (davidb2005).

 

Repeaters—Occasionally, we’d have back-to-back winners.  As seen above, riskrow actually went back-to-back-to-back in games 35-37.  Other repeat winners:  ba11game (16-17), StL_Dan (20-21), davidb2005 (25-26), and Chief Redbird (47-48).  Repeat losers:  riskrow, of course (4-5, 31-32, 44-45), maverick247 (27-28), and cards_jim_edmonds_15 (46-47).

Plugging Away—MadHungo kept playing.  And kept playing.  But he never got a decision in 26 games, the most played by anyone with no wins or losses.

 

Starting Lineup—Following the trend from last year, the results were listed out as “in the starting lineup” or “on the bench”.  The number of times eligible posters (posters that played in 65% of the games) made the starting nine:

Stat Corner—A myriad of assorted stats:

 

• The largest number of posters was 23 (Game 11—Cincinnati and Game 13--Cincinnati).  The smallest:  12 (three times).
• The average number of posters was 17.7.
• The largest margin of victory was 5 (ba11game 17, maverick247 12 and cardsrul 22, Elite1 17).
• The largest drop in points after a victory was 20 (scottyfan from 20 to 0) and the largest increase after a loss was 15 (riskrow from 2 to 17).
• The most dominating performance of the year was by laughing man.  His 20 in Game 23 was 11.56 points above average.  The next four:

10.28—cardsrul (Game 45)

10.12—ba11game (Game 29)

  8.88—StL_Dan (Game 21)

  8.71—Oberkfell3B (Game 50)

• The other end of the spectrum was turned in by cards_jim_Edmonds_15, whose 4 in Game 46 was 9.78 points below average.  The next four:

  8.80—riskrow (Game 32)

  8.42—4theBirds (Game 39)

  8.00—maverick247 (Game 27)

• The winner, on average, dropped 6 points the next game.  4 winners did not play the next game and one won the last game and had no chance to play again.  The loser usually increased 4.8 points.  5 losers didn’t play the next one and one lost the last game.
• The YNOT bullpen filled in for me when I went on vacation this summer and kept things right in line.  The average high score for the bullpen games was 16.2.  The average high for the games I created was 15.3.  So the bullpen was a bit easier on you than I was!
