Year two of YNOT at the Clubhouse brought the technological innovation of a web-based game.  Roark did wonders getting that up and running, and I can’t thank him enough for making my life just that much easier.  Lots of fun was had on the way, as well, with a magical 2004 season and a deep postseason run.  The following (unless otherwise noted) are just for the 52 regular season YNOTs.

 

Cal Ripken Award—There were three winners of this award this year, Oberkfell3B, Tulcard, and myself.  Obie has yet to miss a regular-season YNOT in the two years we’ve been doing this here.

 

New York Yankees Award—Given to the poster with the most wins over the season.  It was a close race this year, but I won 5 times to edge out Oberkfell3B (who had 4).

 

Arizona Diamondbacks Award—Given to the poster with the most losses over the season.  I had to change the name because the Tigers actually won some this year.  With losses in the last two games, debdane (with 5) kept riskrow (4) from repeating here.

 

Repeaters—It was so nice, they did it twice.  Repeat winners:  Oberkfell3B (Games 15-16), and eddiesackz (34-35).  Repeat losers:  ballbird (17-18) and debdane (51-52)

 

The Top 5—The best of the best!

Plugging Away—Holly kept playing.  And kept playing.  But she never got a decision in 46 games, the most played by anyone with no wins or losses.

 

Starting Lineup—Following the trend from last year, the results were listed out as “in the starting lineup” or “on the bench”.  The number of times eligible posters (posters that played in 65% of the games) made the starting nine:

Stat Corner—A myriad of assorted stats:

 

• The largest number of posters was 41 (Game 5—Houston).  The smallest:  17 (Game 17--Pittsburgh).
• The average number of posters was 29.4, well up from last year’s 17.7.
• The largest margin of victory was 7 (stovo11 26, Cardsnation 19).
• The largest drop in points after a victory was 16 (Roark1138 from 20 to 4 and Mays24Bonds25 from 22 to 6) and the largest increase after a loss was 16 (ajtimes2 from 0 to 16).
• The most dominating performance of the year was by stovo11.  His 26 in Game 21 was 13.75 points above average.  The next four:

12.70—Elite1 (Game 11)

11.62—Tulcard (Game 40)

11.47—eddiesackz (Game 35)

• The other end of the spectrum was turned in by ballbird, whose 2 in Game 17 was 10.65 points below average.  The next four:

  8.68—davidb2005 (Game 9)

  8.63—ajtimes2 (Game 47)

• The winner, on average, dropped 7.7 points the next game.  6 winners did not play the next game and one won the last game and had no chance to play again.  The loser usually increased 6 points.  18 losers didn’t play the next one and one lost the last game.
• Typically, the YNOT bullpen fills in for me when I go on vacation in the summer.  This year I didn’t leave, but some posters gave me a break anyway.  The average high score for the bullpen games was 19.3.  The average high for the games I created was 17.5.  So the bullpen got torched!

 

Odds and Ends—Various items from this season

 

• Postseason YNOT came to the Clubhouse, including the first-ever World Series YNOT.  Congrats to BrewCards (NLDS), Oberkfell3B (NLCS) and 27RolenFan (WS) on their postseason victories.
• New to the board this year were awards determined by formulas modified from the Braves poster grooveone.  These were posted earlier, but to recap:
