After the rousing success of YNOT during the 2002 season, it returned to Fanhome (and even spread to another board) in 2003.  While the sequel wasn’t quite as well-attended as the original, a large number of people did spend their Cardinal season answering yes/no questions and filling in tiebreakers.  The web site is still up for any who want to peruse the games and basic information, but here is the statistical wrapup of the 2003 YNOT season.

No Cal Ripkens—I made it to Game 25.  Kodiac to Game 33.  And Tulcard outlasted us and made it to Game 38.  But none of us could get to 52 straight games.  However, all three of us tied the record of 51 set by MadHungo last year.

Shooting Stars—There were fewer flukes this year.  Only LanceRules (Game 15—Houston) and uglyone (19, Toronto) played only one game and hit the jackpot.  No one went the other way, showing a loss in their only attempt.

New York Yankees Award—Given to the poster with the most wins over the season.  There was a four-way tie for this honor this year.  jcgoldie (Games 21, 31, 44, and 51), kittyhawker (30, 32, 38, 41), Kodiac (8, 17, 20, 26) and SkinnyPimp (9, 14, 23, 35) all won 4 games.

Detroit Tigers Award—This is actually a bit of a misnomer.  Sure, Tulcard had 4 losses (Games 22, 24, 28 and 51) which led the league.  But he did finish 9th (of eligible posters) overall with an average over 9 and made the starting lineup 31 times.

Repeaters—It was difficult to go back-to-back this year.  Only MalcolmTucker (Games 36-37) and myself (49-50) pulled off the feat.  Nobody was able to finish last twice in a row.

The Top 5—The best of the best!

1.        jcgoldie 30 (Game 44—Cincinnati)

2.        kittyhawker 26 (Game 32—Los Angeles)

3.        jcgoldie 24 (Game 32—Los Angeles)

4.        uwmsid 23 (Game 44—Cincinnati)

5.        Kodiac 22 (Game 26—Kansas City)

Plugging AwayKiwiHab kept playing.  And kept playing.  But he never got a decision in 24 games, the most played by anyone with no wins or losses.

Starting Lineup—Following the trend from last year, the results were listed out as “in the starting lineup”, “on the bench” or, occasionally, “the minors”.  The number of times eligible posters (posters that played in 65% of the games) made the starting nine:

                Tulcard 31

                1birdwatcher 30

                Gagliano 29

                Kodiac 27

                ewttexas 26

                Cardinal70 23

                uwmsid 23

                SkinnyPimp 22

                27ROLENISNO1 20

                jcgoldie 18

                Rugger14 18

Stat Corner—A myriad of assorted stats:

13.16—jcgoldie (Game 44)

  9.59—Catman61 (Game 1)

  9.37—Cardinal70 (Game 40)

  9.13—Ipitch20 (Game 6)

10.84—Mundane (Game 44)

10.22—WillieMcGreat (Game 32)

  9.87—couchcoach (Game 6)

  8.14—PHXredbirdFan (Game 19)

Thanks to everyone that played YNOT this year.  It was a blast, even if the season didn’t turn out the way we’d have liked.  Hope everyone returns next year!
