Bucky O' Hare and the Toad Wars For the Nintendo Entertainment System Remember that old TV show called Bucky O' Hare ? Well, there was a NES game made quite a while ago. Game Info- 1 Player Password system Action games Story- In a different dimention, far off in space, there is a war that threatens that entire dimention. The inhabitants are well, animal people, and they're at war with the evil Toad Empire. It's time for S.P.A.C.E (the good-guys) to send in their best: Captain Bucky O'Hare. Slight problem, they were about to attack a Toad Ship, when they were attacked. Now, Bucky's crew has been captured, and the Captain has to free his crew !! Gameplay- Good ol' side-scrolling action. You'll play as Bucky, and his crew. Each of Bucky's crewman have been imprisoned on various planets (an ice planet, fire planet, forest planet, etc.), and it's up to Bucky to free them. You'll blast your way though each world, destroying the various enemies that try to stop you. You'll also have to get past natural obstacles, such as pits, giant fireballs... You get the point. As if that wasn't enough, you'll have to finish off the boss at the end of the level. Some bosses have multiple parts to destroy, or some are just uhh one part. Once you destroy the boss, you'll free your crewman, and you'll be able to use them by pressing the Select button. Now each crewman has different abilities, Bucky, being a rabbit, can jump extremely high. Jenny, has telepathic powers, and can fire off a blast which you can control. You've even got Blinky, a small robot who can fly around. You will NEED to use various crewman for various levels. In each level you can find power-ups to expand your lifebar, and your special bar. With an extended special bar, you'll be able to use your power for a longer amount of time or it will be more powerful (Bucky can jump higher, Blinky can fly higher...). You'll also get a password each time you rescue a crewman, so you can quit when you want to, and pick up where you left off. Graphics and Sound- The graphics are pretty good for NES. The characters are pretty small, but you can make out detail on them. The backgrounds are pretty bland, not much variety. There's even a few cutscenes in the game. Not bad for a NES game. The sound is great !! Well, at least the forest level has some funky BGM. The game even has some nice sound effects. Yep... That's about it for the sound. Replay Value- The game doesn't really have that much to offer for replay value. I used to play it over and over since I was a fan of the show. I know I'd play it again if I could find a copy of it... Rent or Buy- Heh, I doubt you'd find a place where you can rent NES games, but this game is definitely a buy. It's a must-have to any old Bucky O'Hare fans collection. My final score - 9/10 Years ago, when all I had was a NES, this was my favorite game. Of course, with time I lost interest with this game, and got rid of this game. Eh... How stupid of me.
