The UNICARD system which has the cardholder's photo, name and number printed on will also has a microprocessor implanted so other personal information such as academic grades, student status, eligibility and other data and can be stored. Of course, monetary values can also be memorized for e- commerce too. The students can use the card to check out books from the library, enjoy health care services, obtain records and access special information on databases and the Internet. VeriFone OMNI terminals are used throughout the campus area to take care of electronic payment transactions. Hatim Tyabji, president of VeriFone, Inc. said, "We believe smart cards will be used in the future for a wide variety of applications, and it is just this type of project that will demonstrate what is possible."
