The Bible has been ridiculed and dismissed in recent times as inaccurate and unreliable. However, students of Biblical Archaeology have found that as the science of
archaeology becomes more sophisticated, much more evidence is coming to light regularly that says just the opposite! Finds have been made that show us how historically accurate God's Word really is. Amazing discoveries are being made daily which prove that the Bible is historically accurate and that the scriptures are the inspired word of God. The following website covers many important archaelogical finds such as the Dead Sea Scrolls and the search for Noah's Ark. Amazing Discoveries
This is also an excellent site, which deals with many of the major the bibical archaeological findings that I outline below. You are invited to examine the evidence to see whether the work of the archaelogist, confirms or denies the word of God.
Light on Biblical Archaeology

From ca. 7,000 B.C.E. through Biblical times, Megiddo dominated the most important international road in the Near East. Abounding with architectural monuments - temples, lavish palaces, mighty fortifications and a remarkable water system - and yielding unparalleled treasures, it is the jewel in the crown of Biblical Archaeology.
Site of epic battles that decided the fate of western Asia, it became the Egyptians first step to empire in the 15th century B.C.E., when Pharaoh Tutmoses III conquered the Canaan. Here was the center of Solomons administration in the north; here, too, the staging point for Assyrias deportation of the people of the Northern Kingdom of Israel.
Megiddo, the only site in Israel mentioned by every great power the ancient Near East, appears in the New Testament as Armageddon, location of the millennial battle between the forces of good and evil. Megiddos military importance and long history as an international battleground is aptly reflected in the Apocalypse of John in the Book of Revelations (16:14-16). Armageddon (meaning "the mount of Megiddo") is designated as the site where, at the end of days, the demons will gather the hosts of the nations for the ultimate battle against the forces of God.
What is the importance of the Dead Sea Scrolls? The Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran, are the greatest manuscript discovery ever made! One of the most important contributions of the Dead Sea Scrolls is the numerous Biblical manuscripts which have been discovered.
Until those discoveries at Qumran, the oldest manuscripts of the Hebrew Scriptures were
copies from the 9th and 10th centuries AD by a group of Jewish scribes called the Massoretes. Now we have manuscripts around a thousand years older than those. The amazing truth is that these manuscripts are almost identical! Here is a strong example of the tender care which the Jewish scribes down through the centuries took in an effort to accurately copy the sacred Scriptures. We can have confidence that our Old Testament Scriptures faithfully represent the words given to Moses, David and the prophets.
Archaeology can help to make us realise the sureness of God's plan of salvation as revealed in his divine record. Just as a detective might piece together the evidence of a tyre print, an old bus ticket or some other apparently meaningless item to solve a mystery and reveal the truth, so I hope you will assimilate the facts and evidences available to establish in you a confidence that :-
But where does all this lead us? Surely it means that the proven accuracy of the Bible enables us to have every confidence in its inspiration and therefore encourage us to study its message of hope about the future Heavenly Kingdom. Just as archaeology is important to us, so is the Bible's message for all who will take time to read it, for it leads us to a complete understanding of God's plan of salvation for all humanity.
