Christmas Day was also a reminder that one of our expeditioners was missing. Paul 'Sax' Saxby was to have joined us on this expedition as our wintering carpenter. Tragically, he was killed in Hobart in a diving accident before we left. As 'Sax' would have wanted, the entire station toasted his memory on Christmas night with a bottle of Scotch that would have been his Christmas gift from his family.
