These spaceship looking things are actually field huts, and this type is called 'smarties' for obvious reasons. Bechervaise Island is just off the coast from Mawson, and is the site of a long term Adelie Penguin monitoring program. I love the photo below, of the Bechervaise Island picnic table. Where else in the world would you want to picnic?
