The rise of the plateau and the peaks jutting up through the ice are absolutely amazing from out on the sea ice, and a large factor in Mawson's reputation of being the most scenic of Australia's Antarctic Stations. The quads in the foreground are our main form of transport, and they make excellent all-terrain vehicles. Survival packs that are strapped to them are carried at all times when not on the station.
