ANTARCTICA - JOURNEY TO THE ICE

Antarctic Continent, near Davis Station, Antarctica

Dry Land.... Antarctica!

Our first sight of the Antarctic continent: the highest, dryest, and coldest continent on the face of the earth. What are we doing here again?? The brown bits are the hills around the Davis base region in the Australian Antarctic Territory. Less than 3% of the Antarctic continent is ice free, but the brown earth was a welcome sight after 2 weeks on the ship.
