ANTARCTICA - JOURNEY TO THE ICE

Soil and Rock, East Antarctica

The surface of Mars?

Colebeck is unusual in Antarctica, in that it has soil as well as rock. The colour of the soil and rock bears an uncanny resemblance to the photos of the surface of Mars. I managed to get a photo with no snow or ice in it, just to accentuate the feeling. The mountain ranges around Colebeck are also stunningly pretty. The whole effect is that of being in an alien world, which I suppose it really is.
