Rayne Mirh: Rona's Story

This is the main reason I made this site. There is a whole world surrounding this, all from my imagination. Amazing, huh? Note that this is UNEDITED and INCOMPLETE. It will be updated as the story is written. Yes, I know that you can mess with the text inside, but this was the simplest way to copy it over for now. Later on this will be fixed.

PROLOUGUE "Orcs!" Rona heard a sentry scream, before an arrow pierced his shoulder and he fell, wounded. She ran to his side and began treating the wounds. She chanced looking up and saw a horde of Orcs starting to attack. Then she saw something worse. A figure in the middle of the swarm of attackers. She could see none of its features, but its dark, glowing grey-red eyes told its nature immediately. It raised its hands above its head and they started to glow a sickly blue-green color. She screamed "NECROMANCER!" right before a chunk of wall exploded. A rock slightly larger than her fist struck her in the temple and she fell off of the ramparts. When she woke three days later, the battle will have gone against them and they would have retreated to the inner area, inside the fourth and innermost wall. All of the wounded were in the unoccupied living quarters. Anyone who could fight was being used to fight, and everyone else was used to bring ammunition to the archers or to help the wounded by either getting them to shelter or treating thier wounds. ~ ~ ~ Screaming. The first thing Rona heard when she woke up was screaming. She looked out a nearby window and saw glistening, 3-foot long shard of ice raining down from a cloudles sky. A blizzard? In the middle of summer? Rona asked mentally. Suddenly, a boiling ball of flames burst through the wall next to her head, and went through to the other side. As soon as she got out of the choking black fumes, she realized what was happening. The Magi are attacking! she thought, horrified. The Circle of Twelve, also known as the High Council of Wizards, was the most powerful force on Reynar. They had started the Aliance, which included almost every kingdom. However, the man in charge of the keep she lived in was convicted of heresy and illegal communication with Necromancers, who were heretic magi. When told to surrender himself, he refused and started using the whole keep as hostages. The Magi warned him that force would be used, but he did not listen. Rona screamed in anger and ran off to get Duke Rine and surrender him to the Magi. Why should SHE suffer for that idiot's mistakes? On her way out of the room, she grabbed her dagger and a mask designed for the snow, but it would work for keeping dust and smoke out of her lungs. She turned down a hallway and dodged into a skillfully hidden door. The rest of the trip to Rine�s personal hiding place was mostly unneventful. However, as she ran for the final doors, the soldiers defending the room spotted her coming and started closing the doors. Rona must have tried to open the doors for 20 minutes. She slammed her dagger into the door hilt deep, tore it out, and couldn�t see any light from the other side. A shockwave hit destroying the bar to the door and and throwing the one door off it�s hinges. When the guards recovered, they rushed at her, but when they got within a few feet, there was a bright, white flash and the guards were thrown against the walls, either knocked out or dead. ~ ~ ~ Outside, it was a general melee, with the Magi slaughtering the orcs and human guards alike. Thier main objective was to capture the duke, but first, they needed to get to him. ~ ~ ~ Duke Rine looked up. The first thing he saw was Rona, about 6 inches off the ground, eyes glowing a silver color that was tinted gold. A cloud of dust rising from the floor surrounded Rona�s feet, and she started chanting in a language that she never knew that she knew. Before she finished the spell, however, a fireball much larger than any of the others so far bored through the ground and exploded in the center of the room, which stopped the spell by destroying Rona�s concentration. The Circle of Twele materialized inside, as did three other Magi. The three magi went to deal with the Duke, but the Circle approached Rona. She was back to normal now, and was slightly confused. The most powerful wizard in the Circle spoke. "Rona, come with us. The Awakening has begun." ~ ~ ~
