The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

AMEN

Impressions

The "Our Father" The Lord's Prayer
The request to Jesus was ( LUKE 11:1-5 MATT 6:5-15 ) "Lord teach us to pray!" In response, Jesus gave not just a prayer to memorize and say, but a lesson in Prayer, a formula for Prayer.

"Our Father" for you are Our Father, Our source of life; not just the life that our earthly father provides for us but the source of all things, our Creator and caregiver.
"Who art in Heaven" where you exist in eternity, the Alpha and the Omega, with no beginning and no end, forever and ever, in timeless eternity you invite us, your creatures to become a part of your eternal existence, in love and fidelity.
"Hallowed be thy Name" supreme is your name for eternity, there is none greater for you are the sole creator.
"Thy Kingdom come" for it is your desire to share your total creation with us your children, even if we do not desire it ourselves, Thy kingdom will come as it exists in eternity. We may choose not to participate and that would be HELL.
"Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven". I know it is your will to love and nourish those who will accept your love, and it is not your will to impose your will on us regardless of our desire. You seek to give us all of your love and grace but we may choose to ignore you or to say NO,'I want it my way'. May I not be selfish with pride and place myself before you, O my God.
"Give us this day our daily bread" May I always seek you with an empty heart to be filled with your grace. May I be always able to empty myself of the desire for immediate self-gratification and seek only you; for it is only in you that I may gain peace and eternal life. Without you there is only DEATH.
"and forgive us our trespasses" May I always come to you for forgiveness for without you I am lost in this material world of self gratification. I know that I am Body Soul and Spirit. I need not only food for the body but also your grace for my soul to feed my spirit. In forgiveness, you cleanse me of those things that keep my spirit from happiness in your presence. Light and darkness cannot co-exist for where there is one there is not the other; nor can sin and righteousness co-exist. I know your forgiveness will always be there when I truly desire to convert myself to your ways, ask for your forgiveness, "as we forgive those who trespass against us".
"Lead us not into temptation" Lead us along the narrow path to Your eternity. The wide path of temptation is not your way. May I not place myself into the occasions of sin for I know I do not of myself possess the power to resist.
"But deliver us from evil". In all things, your grace is sufficient to keep me safe from the devil. May I always seek your grace and not linger where temptation exists. I know I can't find happiness in the self-gratification of this world, but only with you in eternity. May I always seek You!
"AMEN"
