Man is born with original sin.
Romans 5:12 "Wherefore as by one man sin entered into this
world, and by sin death; and so death passed upon all men, in
whom all have sinned."
1 Corinthians 15:21-22 "For by a man came death, and by a man
the resurrection of the dead. And as in Adam all die, so also in
Christ all shall be made alive."
There are two types of personal sin, mortal and venial.
1 John 5:16 "He that knoweth his brother to sin a sin which is
not to death, let him ask, and life shall be given to him, who
sinneth not to death. There is a sin unto death: for that I say
not that any man ask."
Guilt can be mitigated by ignorance.
Luke 12:47-48 "And that servant who knew the will of his lord,
and prepared not himself, and did not according to his will,
shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did
things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes.
John 15:22 "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not
have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin."al.
