Its effects on man
1 Kings 16:15,16,23. And the servants of Saul said to him: Behold
now an evil spirit from God troubleth thee. Let our lord give orders,
and thy servants who are before thee, will seek out a man skilful in
playing on the harp, that when the evil spirit from the Lord is upon
thee, he may play with his hand, and thou mayst bear it more easily.
So whensoever the evil spirit from the Lord was upon Saul, David
took his harp, and played with his hand, and Saul was refreshed,
and was better, for the evil spirit departed from him.
In Heaven
Apocalypse 5:8-9. And when he had opened the book, the four living
creatures and the four and twenty ancients fell down before the
Lamb, having every one of them harps and golden vials full of
odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new
canticle, saying: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to take the book and to
open the seals thereof: because thou wast slain and hast redeemed
us to God, in thy blood, out of every tribe and tongue and people
and nation:
For the glory of God
Exodus 15:1,20,21. Then Moses and the children of Israel sung this
canticle to the Lord, and said: Let us sing to the Lord: for he is
gloriously magnified, the horse and the rider he hath thrown into the
sea... So Mary the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in
her hand: and all the women went forth after her with timbrels and
with dances. And she began the song to them, saying: Let us sing to

hath thrown into the sea.
Ephesians 5:19. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and
spiritual canticles, singing and making melody in your hearts to the
