Formula for holy incense
Exodus 30:34. And the Lord said to Moses: Take unto thee spices,
stacte, and onycha, galbanum of sweet savour, and the clearest
frankincense, all shall be of equal weight.
Uses of
Exodus 30:36. And when thou hast beaten all into very small powder,
thou shalt set of it before the tabernacle of the testimony, in the
place where I will appear to thee. Most holy shall this incense be
unto you.
Exodus 30:37-38. You shall not make such a composition for your
own uses, because it is holy to the Lord. What man soever shall
make the like, to enjoy the smell thereof, he shall perish out of his
people.
Leviticus 16:12-13. And taking the censer, which he hath filled with
the burning coals of the altar, and taking up with his hands the
compounded perfume for incense, he shall go in within the veil into
the holy place: That when the perfumes are put upon the fire, the
cloud and vapour thereof may cover the oracle, which is over the
testimony, and he may not die.
Offered morning and evening
Exodus 30:7-8. And Aaron shall burn sweet smelling incense upon it
in the morning. When he shall dress the lamps, he shall burn it: And
when he shall place them in the evening, he shall burn an
everlasting incense before the Lord throughout your generations.
For atonement
Numbers 16:46. Moses said to Aaron: Take the censer, and putting
fire in it from the altar, put incense upon it, and go quickly to the
people to pray for them: for already wrath is gone out from the Lord,
and the plague rageth.
