Hate evil as God does
Psalms 44:7-8. Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: the sceptre of
thy kingdom is a sceptre of uprightness. Thou hast loved justice, and
hated iniquity: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the
oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Psalms 96:10. You that love the Lord, hate evil: the Lord preserveth
the souls of his saints, he will deliver them out of the hand of the
sinner.
Do not hate each other, even our enemies
Leviticus 19:17. Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thy heart: But
reprove him openly, lest thou incur sin through him.
Matthew 5:43-45. You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt
love thy neighbour, and hate thy enemy. But I say to you, Love your
enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that
persecute and calumniate you: That you may be the children of your
Father who is in heaven, who maketh his sun to rise upon the good,
and bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust.
Is a cause of trouble
Proverbs 10:12. Hatred stirreth up strifes: and charity covereth all
sins.
Makes undesirable company
Proverbs 15:17. It is better to be invited to herbs with love, than to a
fatted calf with hatred.
