| Connected tank (right) has a gauge on it. When it is in the "Order Gas" zone, it is time to replace this tank with a new one. The phone number to call is in your phone list. As of now, our supplier is Aero Compressed Gases. It is thier job to take the tanks down, although I always enjoyed helping them, as it gave me some physical labor to do. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Changing out an empty tank: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Get yourself an adjustable wrench. *Note* do not place the wrench on top of the Chlorine tank. Chlorine corrodes metals. 2. Close the tank off firmly by turning the valve on top of the tank clockwise (to the right.) 3. Now you can use your wrench to disconnect the tank. 4. There are covers for the valve section of the tanks. Screw that on top of the tank. You should use the orange objects pictured here to indicate whether a tank is full or empty. 5. Secure tanks. Each group of tanks has a chain which you will fasten around them to prevent them from falling. |

| Leaks: When you hear a leak, it is caused by error in connecting the tank, a faulty nut, or a leak in the line. If you determine a leak to be there: Close the valve If the leak is in the line Then simply close the valve,disconnect the tank, and indicate that it is not empty. Make sure that the second tank in that group is not empty. Or else you should attempt to reconnect the tank and open the valve. If the leak persists, Then the problem is with the tank. Relay the message to our maintenance service supervisor and ensure that the tank is not used. |

| Subbasement room: Laundry Storage: 034A | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Unethical patrons will steal towels from us. When theft reduces your towel inventory to an unacceptable level, ask our general manager for a green light to put more towels into service. You will be instructed on how many to put into service. Take the prescribed amount and wash them before making them available. Below: New towels. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Doing laundry: -Each machine pictured here is a modified dishwasher. Detergent is dispensed from the white container on the tops of the machines. Make sure you replenish these when necessary and keep track of your inventory. -Instructions and codes can be found directly on the machines or on the far wall of the subbasement (Lower right). |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| <---Open up any of the dryers and you will find a lint screen (left). Make sure these are fairly clean before starting a load of towels. Guidelines for using these machines are directly on each machine. |

| The subbasement is also used as an alternate place to take whirlpool samples and check water quality. The assembly to the right has meters that track Cl and pH levels, but you should not trust them. One check you should conduct if a pool has no chlorine is that the meters are in the AUTO position. Occasionally after cleaning a whirlpool we will forget to turn the system on. If you take readings and you have 0 for Cl, you now know what to do. Below these meters are spigots---> from which you can take a water sample. Keep this in mind when you need a sample from a locker room that you should not be in. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The subbasement is also the room when the city of Milwaukee heats the building and water using steam. If there are complaints about a lack of hot water, then there may be a lack of steam. Should a city engineer come in to look at meters, you will likely take them to the subbasement. |

| In the winter there will be days during which there is no hot water in showers. We just have to deal with it. In case you call a mechanic in to look at the water heater, it is located in the room labeled "The Pitt," 60A. <-------- |
