| Chapter 9 Brother�s Tears �How long do we have to stay here?� Matt and Gabumon were in a dark stone cave, huddled around a small, but warm fire. �At least until the storm lets up Matt, use your head� Gabumon said as he fanned the flames. Matt just growled under his breath, besides he had every right to be mad. His little brother was out there somewhere, probably scarred half to death, plus when he had come to after the crash, he had opened his eyes just in time to see Tai and Agumon crash on an island next to the one he and Gabumon were on. If only I could convince Gabumon to- - Aha! Matt pulled his harmonica out of his pocket. Gabumon looked up. Matt played a variety of soothing tunes. Gabumon was a little tired, but not tired enough to leave Matt alone. Matt�s sly plan had backfired, instead he had made himself sleepy. Since Gabumon wasn�t going to lullaby land any time soon, way not rest his eyes for a while? It had been about thirty minutes and Matt was still in the same slumped position with his eyes shut. Gabumon was still not sure if he was really asleep, or if he was trying to trick him. Gabumon walked over to Matt. �Matt� Matt.� No answer. �Matt!� Gabumon said in a loud a whisper as he could. No answer. Gabumon nudged Matt on the arm a couple of times. �Uh� shut... up� Matt moaned and rolled over on to his side and after that he was silent again. Gabumon couldn�t help but laugh under his breath. Could this be the same cool as a cucumber Matt? No one can act that well, I guess I�ll go see if I can find some food. Gabumon left the cave but before he did he looked back at Matt. Ha ha ha ha ha. �They could be anywhere,� Tai said as he looked around. �Yeah but we have to keep looking right?� Agumon asked. �I don�t think so, look at those clouds, if we go any farther we�ll walk right in to a storm� Frigimon said. They had no choice but to stay put for the time being. �Uh� Gabumon where are you?� Matt asked as he stretched. He looked around but Gabumon was nowhere to be seen. What luck! Now I can go out and look for the others for a little while. Matt stepped outside, but unfortunately the storm had not let up at all, in fact it was now much worse. Matt wasn�t about to let that stop him. He rushed outside and began taking large slow strides. The force of the wind and snow was almost unbearable. Almost. �T.K.!� Matt called again and again, but there was no answer. If he was going to find his brother he was going to have to progress in to the storm. Gabumon was hurrying back, he had gotten lost in the storm, but thanks to his trusty fur coat he was fine. However, he had lost a great amount of time and was coming back to Matt empty handed. �Matt are you wake yet� Matt?� Gabumon looked all around the cave but Matt was nowhere to be seen. Just my luck. Gabumon rushed back out in to the storm. �MATT!� Gabumon called and called, but there was no answer. He kept going� he found Matt. He was unconscious and half-buried in the snow. He was barely alive. Barely. Gabumon carefully brought Matt back to the cave and placed him next to the fire. Matt was freezing cold, had a fever, and Gabumon didn�t know what to do. Well I could, if will help Matt�s fever break. All Gabumon wanted was for Matt to get well so there was no hesitation. He quickly removed his fur coat and placed it over his friend. The hours passed slowly and Gabumon waited to see if the extra warmth of his coat would cure Matt. He stood in the shadows, for he was self conscious about being seen without his fur coat. How would you like to live the life of a furless Rex (furless cat)? Being a furless dog is much, much worse! Finally Matt was showing some signs of life. Matt began to open his eyes, and move a little. �Uh� Gabumon where are you?� He very slowly rose to his feet and looked around the cave. Still fell a little faint� Left to look for T.K� Didn�t find T.K., then�. Oh. He looked around and didn�t see Gabumon anywhere. �Gabumon?� �I�m over here, would you please bring my fur coat over to me Matt?� Matt was confused but looked down to see the fur coat, he didn�t even notice it when he woke-up. Man I�m really out of it. Matt picked up the fur and brought it to Gabumon, who was still in the shadows. Gabumon snatched up his fur and pulled back over himself. �Oh, that�s much better, how are you feeling Matt?� �I�m fine now, thanks to you, Gabumon.� �That�s good, because while you were sleeping the storm ended, now we can look for the others!� The pair stepped out in to the winter wonderland that was once a raging blizzard. Matt looked around at the beauty that surrounded him and closed his eyes. The ice crystals that hung from the trees and the untouched blanket of snow laded upon that ground seemed to wash over him like that indescribable feeling you get when someone or something surprises you, it seemed to sooth his soul. �Hey Matt!� Matt turned his head to see Tai and Agumon racing though the once untouched snow, he was very glad that Tai and Agumon had survived. �Tai, where have you been?� �There, on Frigimon�s island!� Agumon and Gabumon greeted each other as well. �I�m glad your okay Tai, but now we have to go search for T.K., he�s still out there!� Matt said. �Okay, but first lets map out our path so we don�t search the same island twice, plus Frigimon is still at the foot of the island waiting for us� Tai explained. �We can�t waste that much time, let�s just leave now!� �WHOA, what a minute, we need to plan out something so we don�t get lost ourselves!� Matt patience for Tai grew smaller and smaller until it was gone. �FINE I�LL GO BY MYSELF, WHEN I FIND THE OTHERS WE�LL COME BACK TO GET YOU AND YOUR STUPID MAP!� Tai was trying with all his might to follow what Sora had said last time Matt had really ticked him off, but the words were getting fainter and fainter until they were gone. �GOD, THAT IS IT!� Tai took a swing and knocked Matt right off his feet. Matt regained his posture. �YOU DON�T KNOW HOW LONG I�VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO DO THAT!� Matt yelled and punched Tai right in the face. Hard. Tai fell to the ground, hard. That hurt, but I can�t let him know that! �Please stop fighting, Tai only came here to help you Matt!� Gabumon said. Matt scoffed. �HA! Well he�s doing a hell of a job isn�t he!� �Please Matt.� Gabumon pleaded for Matt to compress his rage. Matt didn�t want to do anything to hurt Gabumon or Agumon so he turned to Tai, who was still sitting on the ground. �Had enough?� Tai glared at him. �Tai just say you�re sorry� Agumon said. Tai didn�t even hear him, his head was swimming. Matt waited, his rage was beginning to grow again due to Tai�s stalling. Then he looked at where his fist had made contact with Tai�s head, it was bleeding. �Hey are you okay, Tai?� Tai just glared at Matt, and then just let lose. �Peachy!� Tai screamed at Matt and then his eyes rolled and he collapsed in to the snow. �Tai, Tai can you hear me� Tai!� Tai slowly opened his eyes, Agumon, Gabumon, and� Matt were staring him in the face. Oh man how long was I out? Agumon smiled. �You were only sleeping for a few minutes Tai� he said. �I didn�t mean to hit you that hard� I thought you could take it.� Matt said. �Matt!� Gabumon cried. �That�s not helping!� Lets see if he can take this! Tai used both his feet and kicked Matt straight in the stomach. "NO, not again!� Agumon cried. �Wh- WHATS WRONG WITH YOU!� Matt yelled. Tai got up with no intention to fight any longer. �Nothing� now. Let�s quit acting stupid and find Frigimon and we�ll plan from there.� �That�s a good idea, let�s go Matt� Gabumon said. Matt got up and brushed the snow off his pants. How could Gabumon be taking his side?! Tai was always the leader, Tai always won, and because of it T.K. might lose and that was more then Matt could handle. �GRAUGH!� Matt lunged and hurled Tai to the ground. �WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!� Tai yelled as he kicked Matt off, hard. Matt didn�t answer. Matt�s silence made any thought of negotiating slip Tai�s mind. The two continued to beat and batter each other and the Digimon tried to break it up, but it was no use. Then Agumon spotted a hill that sloped straight down a cliff. �Tai, Matt watch out!� But they didn�t listen, there�re own stubbornness lead them down the slippery hill. That didn�t stop them from fighting though. The fight continued and Tai ended up on top. They finally skidded to a halt. Tai raised his clenched fist right above Matt�s face, his own face showed a deep and terrible rage. But something stopped him from letting Matt have it. What?� Was Matt� crying? �It�s T.K�. He�s out there alone, I don�t even know if he�s alive!� Matt said. Tai put his fist down, he could understand the feeling of not knowing if your younger sibling is alive. I remember when my little sister, Kari was sick and in the hospital� �Hey, are you okay?� Agumon and Gabumon were running down hill yelling out to see if Tai and Matt were okay. �Fine� Tai said. The four reunited, safe and sound. �I�m afraid to say anything because you might start fighting again� Gabumon said. �Don�t worry, I�m to tired to anyway� Tai said while laughing a little. �Same goes for me� Matt said. �I wish I could believe you guys� Agumon said. Who could blame him? Then there was a little vibration in the ground. �Did� did anybody else feel that?� Matt asked. �Me� Everyone said. Then there was a creaking sound, then a real creak. �It�s the Ice we�re standing on, it gonna give way!� Tai screamed. They couldn�t move fast enough and they fell along with the ice to the ground that was waiting for them fifty feet below. �Are you okay there, Tai?� Tai opened his eyes, he was really getting sick of becoming unconscious involuntarily. He looked up to see Frigimon�s smiling face. Alright Tai get a hold of your self, you were fighting with Matt, stopped fighting, ice broke, you fell, you died, so why is Frigimon here, how did he die? Tai thought about it for a second. �Oh no Frigimon, did we fall on you?� Frigimon laughed out loud. �HA, HA, HA, why no I caught you before you turned in to Jell-O against the ground!� Then Tai realized he was in Frigimon�s arms and alive. �What about the others!� Tai asked. �We�re fine, not a scratch� Matt said. Tai looked behind him and sure enough, there was Matt, Agumon, and Gabumon. Tai was confused. �Don�t tell me you guys fell to the ground and survived!� Matt laughed. �No Frigimon caught us too.� That didn�t make sense, so Tai just looked at Matt with a confused facile expression. Matt hadn�t stopped laughing. �You see, Frigimon caught you first then the rest of us landed on top of you!� Now Matt sounded like a insane hyena, and Tai wasn�t happy but there was nothing he could do about it, so why bother starting trouble? �While you were gone, I made up something for you and your friends, Tai� Frigimon said. He set Tai down and whipped out a sheet of paper. �Here, now if you get lost with this baby, you�re one sorry group ah kids and Digimon!� Frigimon handed the paper to Tai. �A MAP! THANKS FRIGIMON!� Tai said, expressing his gratitude. Matt was over joyed! �Now can we go find T.K. and the others?!� he asked. �YOU BET, LETS GO!� Tai said. �YEAH!� Agumon and Gabumon said together. Tai turned to Frigimon. �Thank you for all of your help, and for your friendship.� Frigimon smiled. �Thank you, Tai for your friendship and for your help.� Tai nodded but had to question one thing. �What did I do to help you?� Frigimon looked at him. �I live on my island alone, it�s a dark and cold island so its always a long time before any travelers come buy, and when they do they never stop to talk�� Tai gave Frigimon smile of promise. �I have a feeling, that says when we�re done with Devimon, your island is going to look a lot brighter.� �Thank you, the best of luck� Frigimon said, he didn�t want Tai to go, but it was one of those things he had no power over. �Remember, that�s a promise.� Tai said. He reached up and gave Frigimon a great big hug. �Lets get moving Tai, time isn�t going to wait for us�� Matt said. Tai didn�t say anything more, he just ran to catch up with the others and the group was on there�re way to the next island. Now Tai had one more reason to foresee Devimon�s downfall. |
