Why are there so many references to the Goddess if God is male? According to metaphysical teachings, there is no sex or gender in Spirit. However, the Goddess represents the female aspect of God, Our Creator, Divine Intelligence...whatever you choose to call It...the nurturing, caring aspect...there are male and female attributes within the Great Absolute.
Throughout the ages, especially in ancient times...these attributes were personified into individual deities. The reason for this is that wo/man could not conceive a spiritual being that did not have human form. What they did not understand is that God/Creator was not made in our image, we were made in His/Her image! We are spiritual beings and our bodies are our vehicles. We have chosen our own life circumstances to fulfill our need to perfect ourselves...our Creator gave us that gift...the gift of self-will...in order to experience through us.
The ancient deities can also be related to our psychological makeup...those with a psychology degree call them archetypes...beginning with Carl Jung (I believe).
