This page is a tribute to my dear wife Florence Jean Crawley who passed away on December 3rd 1999.
We are  pictured  here at our wedding on March 31st 1962 at St Peters Church Morden Surrey

Florence was born on the 6th February 1941 in Carshalton Surrey. Her maiden name was Tewkesbury.
We met in 1960 while we were both employed at K.P.Morrits  in Sutton.
In 1965 we moved to Welwyn Garden City  in Hertfordshire.  We had two daughters and six grandchildren.

!n 1973/74 we qualified as Dance Teachers and ran for many years The Welwyn Garden School of Dancing . Poor  health  prevented  Florence from teaching in the later years which was rather sad as she had devoted  many years to starting the school with me and enjoyed seeing her pupils dance in competitions.

Breast Cancer was diagnosed in 1984, treatment appeared to have cleared it, however it re-occurred in a new form in 1998 which was a devastating shock to both of us, the memory of  when the nurse came to our home to break the bad news, will stay with me forever. Despite the efforts of several specialists and various tests and treatments, it could not be kept  at bay.

When we moved to Welwyn, Florence decided to be known by her second christian name, Jean.  She did not like being called Flo or Florrie, so Jean it was.  Many of her friends only knew her as Jean, I mention this to avoid any confusion if they happen to view this tribute.

Florence loved gardening  and was forever taking cuttings and tending the plants in her greenhouse, she loved her trips to her favourite flower nurseries.

If by any  chance  any of her old friends happen upon this site and recognise Florence from her years in Carshalton or Morrits, then it has served it's purpose. You are welcome to e.mail me with your comments.

We had nearly thirty eight years together with only about ten days spent apart.  Her latter years were spent in pain and discomfort  however she carried on with her life and continued working until she was no longer able to.  She is sadly missed by her family ,however  I   sometimes feel that she is with me still.
                                   May she rest in peace.
Background music
Ave Maria  was sung  at  our wedding and also at Florences funeral.

A welcome home after Florences first operation
Where we met K.P.Morritts. Florence with her Mother.
Don't think of her as gone away--
her journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets--
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost--
and she was loved so much.
Jean with out two daughters, Julie & Michelle.
