One night...
One
night, we stared open-mouthed, at our visitor as he stepped
inside the door, his
sweatshirt
covered with a red sticky substance... blood!
We hurried him into the toilets at the Youth Centre, fearing the worst - probably a knife wound! We were unprepared for shock number number two, as the shirt was peeled off, over his head - not a mark on him! Our young friend was covered with somebody else's blood - and quite a lot of it; the white sink stained red, as we soaked the shirt in water. Somebody else's blood!
One
night, I rescued a teenage girl from an angry pack of girls who
were following her, from a Sports Centre in our town. I took her
arm and was escorting her to safety, when she was punched about
the head from behind by her rival. I managed to stall further
attacks of the gang and walked my young
friend safely
home. The assault had torn her ear (by earrings) and there was
bleeding.
Later I met up with Trixie who was speaking to some young people at McDonald's. I was telling her what happened when she looked straight at me and said, "You've got that lassie's blood on your face!" And so I had! I must have got it when I hugged her to calm her, as she was shaking so much at her ordeal. Somebody else's blood!
One night, I lay flung across my bed, sobbing as I told the Lord about the mess my life was in because of all my sinning. I called out to Him to rescue me and He showed me that I was covered with somebody else's blood - the blood of His only Son Jesus, which He freely gave for me on the cross at Calvary.
"He was wounded for our transgressions... by His stripes we are healed." (ISAIAH 53 v 5)
"The
blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin." (1st JOHN
1 v 7)
Somebody
else's blood!
