Just moments after defeating Jake "The Snake" Roberts to become the 1996 King of the Ring, Stone Cold Steve Austin gave his victory speech. In mocking the Snake, Austin uttered a line which would go down in World Wrestling Entertainment history:
"You sit there and thump your bibles, and it didn't get you anywhere! Talk about psalms, talk about John 3:16. Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!"
In the months that followed, Stone Cold Steve Austin would ascend to the heavens in the World Wrestling Entertainment. And it all started at the 1996 King of the Ring.
