18/11/99: Hitz FM Technician, Simon Butcher reports
from amongst the sawdust and cables
as the Hitz studios get a facelift..
Here's the scope of it all - The news booth has been turned into
a "multipurpose booth".
(Escape with VK and WarmUp! with Paul Hartney will now be coming from here).
AND "The Booth" is also setup for a real club atmosphere,
complete with a mini-mirror ball!
It's also ready for interviews and news reading.
Construction is underway on the on-air studio as well,
with built in desks and a new layout.
The new on-air studio setup will be more spacious and look a lot nicer.
Since Hitz FM has the best news service for a Community Radio Station
in Victoria (if not Australia), [Simon's call, not mine -GM]
the old News Booth will be resurrected inside the News Room,
allowing news staff to take grabs, and possibly even preproduce the news
at a later date.
The studio hallway even includes "decor lighting", just for a laugh :)
Since construction is still in progress, we can't show you the final product,
but we do have heaps of before and after shots of what's happened so far.
