Raw FM's plot Hitz FM's reality
Whilst episodes 1-3 gave Sarah Tomic the stuttering DJ a fair bit of exposure, we weren't aware she had a sister.. Cara.
-A would-be office professional who's only frustrated by her inability to find paid work.

Her current workplace is the family's pub.. often having to do extra work when her sister doesn't do her share. This leads to Cara's bad impression of Raw FM, until her marketing skills are needed at the station.

Raw FM does contra with the Chadstone shopping centre for a car-park dance party.

Unfortunately, the power cuts out.. Cara is blamed and her friend Mark is too busy with a new friend.. Things quickly get worse for Cara, until her sister becomes supportive.

Cara and Sarah have a lot in common with two of Hitz FM's volunteers... Two sisters who worked in different areas of the radio station. The younger began assisting in promotions, then moved into announcing. The elder sister worked in the music department - before doing some on-air work for a large commercial station.

Cara's frustrating efforts to find work are also very similar to that experienced by Hitz volunteers. And like Cara, the youngsters at Hitz FM are usually ecstatic when they realise that the radio station NEEDS them.

Hitz FM's dance parties are usually in halls, although there was a monster party in it's carpark for New Years Eve 1993/4, complete with outdoor mirrorball, and flatbed truck to dance on.. until the sun was too bright to see the disco lights.
