My Toll

Whispers haunt the shadows of my mind,
Deep secrets longing for me to find,
Holding tight to these lies,
None dare respond to my cries,
Born nothing and forever still,
I've become what all wish to kill,
They call me a murderer and a whore,
With their hands my wings were torn,
Judge me not with your eyes,
Deep inside my spirit lies,
Waiting still for that touch,
A hand reaching out for me to clutch,
Though I fall deeper still,
Losing all of my once strong will,
Leave me now before I die,
My pride's to large for me to cry,
No hand is here to give me hope,
Stop trying with your false rope,
With a smile I welcome death,
Cursing you fools with my last breath,
For now darkness has my soul,
And it's time for you to pay the toll.

(Note: Does this really need explaining? We can be doomed by the others around us.)
