Garden city of India, Silicon Valley of India, Costliest city of India and many more are just a few of the sobriquets that go with Bangalore, the capital of the Southern Indian State of Karnataka.

Penning down the history of Bangalore is not an easy task and I dont think i will be able to do complete justice if I start writing the history of Bangalore.  I have been in Bangalore ever since I was born (1972) and I have found it so close to my heart than any other place on earth.

Well, though Bangalore started off proving all the synonyms given to it right, of late it has been forced into a busy, hectic and crowded city.  The tree-lined avenues that I used to watch even as late as in the 1980s are now making way for barren roads and heavy smoking vehicles.  This has resulted in a complete loss of the pleasant Bangalore climate which I expereinced in my childhood days.  There used to be only two seasons virtually, rainy and winter.  Nobody, those born and brought up in Bangalore, never really knew what real summer was.  But those are the proverbial "good old days".

It is the biggest cosmopolitan in India.  You can find people from all walks of life and from all parts of  the country of all castes and religions.  You can find plenty of Temples, Mosques, Churches and even a few Gurdwaras (place of worship of Sikhs). But still it is a calm and  peaceful city giving its residence a feeling of serenity and security.  Being in Bangalore, I,  or for that matter, most of the Bangalore born Bangaloreans can fluently converse in at least five languages.  Kannada, the language of Karnataka, Tamil, the language of neighbouring Tamil Nadu, Telugu, that of Andhra Pradesh and Hindi and English by virtue of the punjabis and Marwaris living in Bangalore.

Its serene atmosphere, its many educational institutions and its climate all put together gave an open invitation to all those interested in leading a calm and peaceful life to come to Bangalore and start their businesses there.  Today, there are so  many IT companies in and around Bangalore  and more planning to come down to Bangalore.  As a result, this encouraged employment and more and more Bangaloreans are moving into the IT field.  The most successful entrepreneur who deserves a mention here is none other than the Infosys man, Mr. N.R. Narayanamurty.   He is one of the richest Bangaloreans today and commands respect from any one who sees him..  He sure is my role model.

A number of Mutltinational Companies who have set up base in Bangalore, have also added to the glamour of Bangalore.  Bangalore can now boast of being the home of such big names as Compaq, Wipro, HCL, Infosys, Intel, Microsoft and many more.
