well its almost a fad esp with usvisa2002 members to write abt their 

visa exp..and me being an eternal sheep(a guy who believe 

in sheep mentality) is writing mine. hope it helps atleast 1 

prson gng for visa in chennai consulate...

i was in 8.30 batch;thx to my dad who had slogged for almost 15 

days to prepare all the requisite docs(namely fd recipts, bank 

letters, lic reciepts, nsc certificates, ca statement, propert 

evaluation, rental agreements ... so on & henceforth)

since guys write pages abt the the environment inside consulate 

i will skip this part

well my interview was for 2-3 mins: I went to the guy who seems 

to be old..who has a knack for extracting details..ofcoz this 

guy rejected for quite a few ppl.. 

me: good mornin sir
him: very good mornin sir
(looks thro my gre & toefl scores)
him: u seem have to a very nice gre & toefl scores sir
me(smiles): thx
(looks thro the list of univs in gre report)
him: did x accept u & so on
me: s for some and no for quite a few
him: sir NCSU,WSU,texas-dallas hav accepted u but u r gng to 

utah?
me: i cant afford in ncsu & i get a default fee waiver for 

summer in usu
(impressed )
him: which branch sir?
me: cs
him:can u fix this computer
me(almost jumpin to hav a glimpse of computer): sure sir
him(taken aback somewhat.. starts returning every document..goes 

thro ca statement): u have a fd of - lacs..how sir?
me: blah,blah..passes him some 15 fd recipts
him(smiles): u r an easy case sir..i like easy cases..u hav reqd 

finance..best of luck sir (he hands me student copy and 1 recipt 

for dd)
me(smiling): thank u sir, was runnin towards counter 1
him: sir 1 sec which branch?
me(proudly): CS sir
(the guy writes it on my i-20..i wonder y b'coz its printed 

alrdy in the i-20..inscrutable americans nevertheless)

now coming to some tips/tricks and piece of advice
1> act confidently
2> get all papers ready
3> avoid puttin huge money in sb accounts..if u r compelled to 

do ..have a logical,provable evidence
(eg: if u say i hav 15 lacs in sb..and date of entry is pretty 

close to u r visa i-view date..if u wanna say i sold some 

property) he'll ask u to show the sale deed.. be prepared for 

that
4> dont go to the nun..she's grants visa..but checks evry little 

piece of paper u have
5> go to the young guys with glasses..thy scrutinise docs..but r 

more lenient
6> if u have pucca docs thn go to the old guy..smile to 

him..never argue with him..

7> 1 more young,plump lady counseller was thr..she's seems to be ok.. but has a habit of unfoldin all the folders u have..she 

seems to have an irritatin habit of consultin the exp 

counsellers evry once in a while


8> last but not the least if u have a loan flaunt it.. b'coz it sells..the guys knw tat bank gives u loan iff u hav adequate property
