| ALDER - This is associated with the diety Bran, as it was believed that he used his body to span dangerous waters. It is used in the construction of bridges and alder indicates protection and oracular powers. APPLE - In Norse myths, Idunna was the keeper of ' the apples of immortality' which kept the Gods young. It was used in Norse runic divination, apple indicates choice and is uded for love and healing magic. ASH - Ash used to be used to make spears, in North America ash was used to make baskets and hoops. It can be used for spells for strength. |

| BEECH - This is associated with ancient knowledge. BIRCH - Associated with fertility and healing magic, birch twigs were used to bestow fertility on cattle and nwlyweds and children's cradles used to be made out of this wood. The inner bark provides a pain reliever and the leaves are used to treat arthiritis. It used to be used for almost everything from paper to axe handles, birch was most useful for fertility and healing spells. BLACKTHORN - This is a winter tree. It indicates strong action of fate or outside influences that must be obeyed. ELDER - In Norse mythology, the goddess Freja chose the black eledr as her home. Elder indicates the end of the beginning and the beginning in the end, life in death and death in life. ELM - Elm was often associated with the Mother and Earth Goddess. | OAK - RED OAK - It's energy in magic was supposed to be lighter than other oaks. WHITE OAK - Was useful for spells requiring strength and solidity. BROWN (ENGLISH) OAK - In Norse and Celtic mythology the oak was associated with the Gods of lightening and thunder such as Thor and Zeus. It was used for spells for protection, strength, success and stabilty. |

| PINE - Pine was used in the Bach flower remedies for dealing with feelings of guilt as it indicates issues of guilt within you. ROWAN - The Rowan tree is known for it's use in protection magic against enchantment. Sticks of rowan were used to carve runes on and rowan crosses were used in cattle pens and homes for protection. The berries have a tiny pentagram on them which symbolized protection, the tree indicates protection and control of senses from enchantments. WILLOW - Willow bark was used in the treatment of rheumatic fever and damp caused diseases. In western tradition it is a sign of mourning and unlucky love. Willow resembles cycles and rhythms of life. YEW - This has long been associated with magic, death, rebirth and runes and the tree is one of the oldest in the world.
