The Tarot Master
Tarot, is the name for a pack of cards used for fortune-telling. The origin of tarot is unknown, though it is thought that the cards were introduced in Europe between 1095 and 1270 or by Gypsies who have used tarot cards since the 14th century in Italy.
Tarot reading is a divination of the past, present and future events. Questions are asked by the enquire and the reader reads the outcome.
There are 78 cards in a tarot pack of which 22 make up the major arcana and 56 make up the minor arcana. The minor arcana consists of suits of wands (clubs), cups (hearts), swords (spades) and pentacles (diamonds). Each suit contains 4 court cards (King, Queen, Knight and Page) plus cards numbered from ace to ten.

The Major arcana consists of a fool and pictorial cards numbered from one to twenty-one. A standard series of the twenty-one cards is as follows:

Card Layouts & Spreads.

The most common types of spreads used in tarot are the Howards Six Card spread where there are 6 cards used 2 for each section on past, present and future and the Celtic Cross Spread which is used for a more detailed reading to the question.
The Celtic Cross is an traditional layout for answering the enquirers questions. The reader selects a court card known as the significator which resembles the enquirer this is done on the sex, age and characteristics.

A King -  represents a man.
A Queen - represents a woman
A knight - represents a young man
A page - represents a young man/woman

Rods - represent blonde hair with blue eyes or red/aubern hair with green/hazel eyes

Cauldrons - represent light brown hair with blue, brown or hazel eyes.

Swords - represent dark brown hair and dark eyes.

Pentacles represent black hair and dark eyes.
Celtic Cross Spread
After the significator has been chosen it is placed facing downwards in the centre of the reading table, the enquirer then shuffles the pack of cards 3 times with the card images facing down. The reader then shuffles the pack once before selecting a card at a time. As each card is placed, the reading moves towards a conclusion.10 cards are picked for this spread.

Meanings of the cards picked

1st card reflects the atmosphere or mood releating to the enquirer and the question being asked.It is placed over the significator.
2nd card points to the forces, positive/negative opposing the enquirer.This is placed over the first card horizontally.
3rd card is placed above the significator and expresses the enquirers ideal wish in relation to the question.
4th card is placed below the significator and indicates the foundation of the subject being discussed.
5th card is placed to the left of the significator and represents the enquirer's past.
6th card is placed on the right of the signifcator and represents the enquirer's future.
7th card is placed to thright and below the cross already formed from the previous cards, this represents the answer to the question asked.
8th card is placed above the seventh and stands for the individual influences which could help the enqirer.
9th card is placed above the eigth and describes the personality of the enquirer.
The 10th card is placed above the ninth and is the conclusion to the query.
