By Nous May 16, 2005 12:20pm -- 10pt Font Life James Walker's room is a mess. How can anybody live in that filth. Then I remember that if my mother didn't clean the house and wash the dishes, I would probably be living in filth myself. My room, while not filthy, is pretty disorganized. Then I should revise my previous statement: If it weren't for my mother, I would be living in a disorganized mess, but not necessarily in filth. James has a whole pizza on aluminum foil on his dresser. Over that are CDs, and over those are GI Joes, the big ones. Upon entering his apartment, I immediately felt sorry that I had agreed to take him to Micro Cache, but agreed I had. "It's like, you know, I don't want you just like driving over there for nothing. So I was thinking, like, maybe I could give you money for gas or something. Like, do you think ten dollars would cover it?" I had said ten dollars would be fine and felt bad for accepting offer. But standing there in James' room, piles of filth and everything seemingly coated in some sort of greasy shit, I thought ten dollars was very fair indeed. So we're driving around and looking for Micro Cache, because I don't know my way around town, and we sort of stumble onto it. Then James says, "After this, like we can go eat. I'll have to get my mother's debit card first, though." You didn't have the ten dollars then, did you? And you're paying for our meal with your mother's money? Fuck that. No meal. Let's go to the library. But James, you're so loud. And all you do is flip through magazines. So I approach James, who says, without lowering his voice at all, "Oh, you didn't find anything?" This Mormon in the corner in a nice shirt and with a tie looked over at me and grinned. "Let's go." "Okay, let me just finish looking through this and I'll be ready." You're ready now. You won't be ready after you finish "reading." It's some article on Franz Ferdinand. I told James my mom had called me in the library and I had to go with her somewhere, and I might not be able to take him back to Micro Cache at one thirty. Now I'm home eating a green popsicle which tastes like Heaven. 12:36pm -- Man's Duty I'm trying to write my cousin's final essay for him. It's so easy, but I can see why he didn't want to do it. He's supposed to write about what he believes, and his beliefs must all be supported by "evidence." "I believe that we should all not care about stupid shit like money, but instead should take care of one another." So I made it as blasphemous as I could before my cousin told me that his teacher didn't believe in God, so I felt defeated. But I write about stuff like past lives and String Theory. It's really just a bunch of babbling, but as my cousin said about another paper I wrote for him, "Your mediocre work will be my masterpiece." 5:57pm -- The Vacuum of Life I missed X-Files, and got paid four dollars for taking James to Micro Cache. I'm feeling bad about accepting it again, which is probably dumb. I'll never learn that James is pretty horrible. And a dog I call Snowflake and also Chatito is licking my pant leg.
