For My Grandmother
I can still remember Sitting by your side, Listening to the stories You told with love and pride.
The stories of your childhood And those of growing old, I wonder who I'd be today If those stories hadn't been told.
You talked about your lifetime And those that you have met. You could remember every name, And each person's favorite pet.
So now I sit here writing Of my memories of you, Content to know that you'll be there In everything I do.
But when your life is over You won't be dead and gone, For in the hearts of those you loved Your memory will live on. |
