As most of our readers are aware in our last issue we announced that Arthur Weasley was named the new minister of magic. I caught up with Arthur and he was kind enough to take the time to give me a interview.

WW: Where were you upon hearing the great news?
AW: I was at home in the burrow with my wife, Molly, and my son, Bill when I got the call.
WW: What was your and your familys reaction?
AW: Well, I was a bit stunned I never expected to be named as the next minister it came completely out of nowhere to me and of course I was overjoyed. We had to pull up a chair for Molly as she almost fainted, she couldnt be more proud. Bill was extactic and quickly broke out the butterbeer. I sent word to Ron and Ginny at Hogwarts as soon as I heard and they sent a letter back straight away saying how happy they were for me and how proud they were of me. I went and visited Fred and George to give them the news in person and they were so happy that they went and let off some of those famous firecrackers of theirs in my honor. We sent word to Charlie and received a letter a few days later that he congratulated me in and said how proud he was.
WW: What about Percy, what was his reaction to the news?
AW: No comment.
WW: Will you be keeping him on the staff at the ministry?
AW: Again no comment.
WW: Now that you have an increased income what will you be buying with your newly earned money?
AW: Well, weve already bought something a bit expensive, we bought a new car, in light of what a certain son of mine and his friend did to our old one we thought we could use a brand new one.
WW: Are you planning any trips for your family?
AW: As soon as everyone gets some free time wed like to go and visit Charlie, but in light of everything thats been happening lately that trip might be a ways off.
WW: Where do you stand on the subject of closing Hogwarts in light of the recent dangers to the students.
AW: Hogwarts will remain open. Students need to learn magic properly and theres no finer place then Hogwarts for that to happen. In regards to the dangers the students may face, there has been highly increased security throughout the school. The castle has been checked many times throughly and though Hogwarts seems to unveil many secrets we are satisfied that it is now safe. Aurors will stand guard at different locations through the school 24 hours a day.
WW: What about the trips into Hogsmeade, have they been canceled?
AW: Yes, students are no longer allowed to have trips outside of the school as it is to dangerous and there is just no way we can guarantee their safety outside of Hogwarts.
WW: What are the first actions you are planning on taking against You-Know-Who as the new minister?
AW: The first thing we need to do would be search for some more wizards who are willing to apply for the job of being an Auror. We need more protection for Azkaban now that the dementors have abandoned us to join You-Know-Who and we, at the ministry, have started to put a plan into effect for Aurors to be the new guards for Azkaban.
WW: What are your plans on bringing down You-Know-Who?
AW: We want to weaken his support so we have started a list that has the history of each of his known Death Eaters to date and we are trying to track them down with all of our efforts. Of course I cant go into to great of detail for obvious reasons. We will be releasing a complete updated list of known Death Eaters to the public very soon. I would like to add that if anyone has any information on a Death Eater or has a suspicion of someone being one do not approach the person but contact the ministry as soon as possible.
WW: It sounds like things are going great for your family and you are already taking action at the ministry. On behalf of the staff of Witch Weekly I would like to congratulate you and state that in my opinion you are the perfect man for the job. Thank you for your time.
AW: Thank you.
