The Leaky Cauldron: Januarys Wizarding Place of the World
                                            By Ariene E. Callahan

We have all passed through the doors of the Leaky Cauldron, and seen the owner Tom welcoming all who enters. But do you know the history of the Leaky Cauldron? Who built it? Why? What can we learn about this ancient, yet vital magical place in the wizarding world?

Built in the year 1500, by Daisy Dodderidge, the Leaky Cauldron quickly grew in popularity, as wizards and witches flocked to the inn, to drink, socialize and pass through to Diagon Alley. The Leaky Cauldron was built in the hopes of serving as a gateway between the non-magical world and Diagon Alley. Not only can you stop by for a refreshing sip of butterbeer, you can also stay the night! The Leaky Cauldron offers rooms available for occupants. During the summer, many rooms are occupied as parents and students shop for supplies as the start of the Hogwarts school year approaches. The ever-famous Harry Potter has stayed at this inn a few times! To muggles, this place appears as nothing out of the ordinary, but to trained magical eyes, the Leaky Cauldron is a wondrous foundation of our world. So the next time you make a trip to Diagon Alley, why not stop by and see old Tom! Tell him Callahan sent you! Cheers!
