I listened I listened to the City today, I listened to every word. It told me of bricks and mortar, Cold steel is what I heard. I questioned the City today, I asked "Is there more to see?" I listened to the City today, The City didn't listen to me. I listened to the Crowd today, I listened to every word. It told me of people who never smiled, Loneliness is what I heard. I questioned the Crowd today, I asked "How can I be free?" I listened to the Crowd today, The Crowd didn't listen to me. I listened to the Earth today, I listened to every word. It told me of trees and flowers, A heartbeat is what I heard. I questioned the Earth today, I asked "Is there more to see?" I listened to the Earth today, It said "Ask the Goddess, not me!" I litened to the Goddess today, I listened to every word. She told me of love and life and joy, Freedom is what I heard. I questioned the Goddess today, I asked "Am I really free?" She told me "Only the free can hear, And can love and be loved by me!"
For Your Dreams. For your dreams you'd die, For your dreams you live. For your dreams you take not, And your dreams you'd give. For your dreams you'd fight, For your dreams you'd kill. For your dreams you search, And you dream on still. For your dreams you're pure, For your dreams you remain. For your dreams untouchable, And you dream on just the same. For your dreams are honest, For your dreams are true, For your dreams are ultimate, And your dreams are you.
Beautiful Dreamer I must be a beautiful dreamer, For I dreamt again today; They wrapped the Earth in a plastic bag And carried her children away. They said that they weren't hers you see, Just some bastards she'd found by her side. But I must be a beautiful dreamer, For I dreamt that they had lied. And yet I thought they couldn't lie, For theirs was the book of truth. They who'd try to save our souls, by indoctrination from youth. In my dream I tried to save her; I cried "Don't hurt her so!" They looked at me, pity in their eyes, Saying "There's another who needs to know" They fed me with their book of truth, Till their words filled my head. I knew them as well as I knew my own name, Yet my heart was filled with dread. They told me theirs was the only truth, Only they had seen the light. They explained how millions of people were wrong And only one percent were right. They told me these were words of love And they taught me how to hate. They said these words would save me And I knew it was too late. They said I would go to Paradise Upon the day that I died. Yet even before thay had killed me, I was certain that they lied. As they tried to smother our Mother And lead her children astray, I knew that she still loved them And the lost ones could yet find their way. I must be a beautiful dreamer, For no matter what evil they've done, I love them as I love all things, On one planet, under one Sun. I must be a beautiful dreamer, As I dreamt of them with love. Because I knew that my Mother Earth Was also their Father above. I am a beautiful dreamer, At least it seems so to me, For I dream of our Mother as beauty And I dreamt that my children could grow free.
The Darkness and the Crying Time. So, This is me. It's all I've got! Take it or leave it, It matters little whether you like it or not. There's nothing more! And this, This is my world. This hectic crush. Well, This damned world is killing me. I've been telling my life-story for years, To strangers, That I've known my whole life. Oh when will I be free! So I'll kiss goodbye, To the lonely cold hours, To the darkness, And the crying time. To ride into the Sun, To turn and walk away And finish what I've begun. To the Western Isles, Where the wind blows free, And a Man can find his Heart. And let the Sun set on my life. Return to the Earth And Freedom, In the bosom of the Mother.
