My Ministry at Christian Aid
1995-2002
I was ordained to the ministry in February 1981
Christian Aid is a charitable organization based in Charlottesville, VA. Its mission is to empower indigenous (nationals) missionaries to accomplish what God has called them to do for God's Kingdom extension. I served as the Director for Latin America Division for 7 years. I was exposed to hundreds of world missions leaders, true apostles of today. Their example and passion to reach the lost is still inspiring me in many ways.

I have met there people like Dorothy and Freddy Sun, Directors for China who suffered 20 years in concentration camps because of their faith. I met Slavik Radchuck whose passion for the ex-Soviet Union reminds me of my Czech grandparents commitment to the expansion of God's Kingdom. I could continue the list. Rather, I'd like to share with you a few pictures that I took while in CAM and tell you a few stories that will give you a better understanding of that period of my life and ministry.
By assisting indigenous missions' field needs we empower them to accomplish the work of preaching the gospel to the end of the world. Here we have a Cuban missionary standing by his car with new tires provided by our assistance.
Churches in Cuba are growing in spite of all hardship and opposition. The character of the Cuban missionary is based on a strong faith and in a strong resilient personality. Cuban people are an example of ingenuity and persistence. They cope with any circumstance with humor and decision. They are loyal friends and extremely generous people.
I visited almost all countries in Latin America as well as Spain, France and England where Latinos are involved in reaching out immigrants.
There are very few people that I admire as much as I do admire Bro. Luis Alberto Guerrero. He is a Colombian missionary who in 40 years of being a believer started more than 35 churches and discipled more than 40 missionaries who, like him, adventure themselves in areas infested by violence and danger and who have no hesitation to put their lives at risk if that will help the extension of God's Kingdom where no other missionary group ever dare to go.
The picture on the right was taking during an 8 hour motorcycle ride in Los Llanos region, a bush-like area in the northeast part of Colombia where the ministry of Don Luis is growing inspite of the violence.
Brother Guerrero and I ready to ride on a motor canoe to the interior of Colombia.
I enjoyed visiting Serving Jesus Christ, a boat ministry based in Guayaramerin, Bolivia.
This is one of the meetings I attended. SJC serves many villages alongside the rivers in the jungle area of Bolivia providing Bible teaching, social services, health services, and transportation for thousands of people who are isolated in that region of South America.
Serving Jesus Christ is a faith based ministry and depend in what the Lord provides only. Their faith and dedication inspired me tremendously.
I remember one anecdote that happened to me while riding on a motor canoe to visit a village deep in the jungle.
I had an infection on my lips. The doctor that serves Guayaramerin once a week came and gave me a liquid to apply to my blisters. My lips became dark violet because of the tint and it looked as if I had a dark lipstick applied to the lips.
I soon discovered that I was the amusement for dozen of children in the area. Carrying my camcorders, still pitures cams, in short and tanktops due to the tropical weather and wearing a pear of sneakers that my son didn't want to wear in the States because it flashed light as you stepped on your heel... I was a walking circus for the local children.
But it wasn't enough for me to make an entire village laugh at the weird foreigner, I had an educational purpose as well to accomplish.
As I jumped in the canoe I noticed a lady and her grand daughter stare at me. I smiled and continue loading my camera for the journey.
Then I overheard the lady tell her grand daughter in Spanish: "You see Maria how ridiculous that old man looks with lipsticks? That's precisely why I don't want you to use lipstick."
When the lady discovered I understood Spanish, she didn't know what to do to appologize to which I added looking at Maria: "Your grandma is right, whenever you would like to use lipsticks just remember how I look and the temptation will go away instantly. I am happy to be your encouragement not to use lipstick as your grandma wishes."
We all laughed and continue our 3 hours ride under the tropical sun of the jungle region of Bolivia.
