| * Earliest Snowfall APRIL 12TH 1994. minimum temperature -1.4 C and the maximum was 7.5 C. - snowfall extended to Black Mountain 1320 m (4330ft), Bald Blair 1300 m (424264ft) to Ben Lomond 1360m (4461ft). It was the earliest for years. Residents commenting it was the first snowfall before Anzac Day for over 20 years. * Lastest ? report for the 1989... I'll look into that. 12 November 1965 * JULY 1984. Heaviest snowfall for many years. The Post Office recorded 25cm (10 inches) of snow, deeper in many parts of the district with reports up to 1.5 metres (4.9ft) deep. The Guyra Newspaper went on to say that a week later banked up snow still remains. Front end loaders were used to clear away deep drifts and tonnes of snow and ice. The snow and ice was carted away in tipper trucks to less inconvenient places. Roads in the district were impassable to normal traffic for at least Tuesday (3rd) and Wednesday (4th). Some students were unable to return to school until Monday this week as they were snowed in. |
