Eyes like coal and molasses brown
You rest on your perch upon
my shoulder
And watch the cat race around
the room
Stalking you and waiting for
you to fall
Rigid tail, naked except for
a few furs
You stiffen it and coil it around
my chin
Your teeth chatter in joy as
I tickle your neck
And your tiny nails, like needles,
dig into my skin
Your fur is so silky soft and
warm to the touch
You ruffle it in fear, as if
someone might be frightened
It rubs against my back like
warming flow
Or maybe that's just your urine
Your teeth stand sharp and yellow
Cleaned only by the blocks of
food you're given
You have a tiny tongue, which
is lick against my neck
You are such a happy rat
