| Why Poetry Must Rhyme G. Stolyarov II Today the term is boundaries lacking, Within mundane vulgarity doth dissipate. Why have the arts declined to such a state, Discoveries of past to fluid hacking? All written forms with structure are imbued, Proseformed by grammar, eloquence, and plot. The deconstructionists remember not That poetry apart from rhyme is skewed. Call rhymeless chatter naturalistic dialogue But do not dare magnificence deride, Equating it with masters who had thought applied, Reducing vivid speech to bark of dog. To title poetry each arbitrary surfaced whim Demeans the dignity of men whod greatness wrought, For rhyme with meaning is derived from thought And careful choice of words profundity cant dim. Mere plain, unstructured, casual feeling Cannot objective, processed truth convey. Rhyme mandates that one never stray From lofty conscience which is facts revealing. Life logic isArt for arts sake is rotten. The patterns of reality in words must mirrored be, Else will the clear-cut reason of morality By bumbling, stumbling creatures be forgotten. One never should under his feet a hole Dim-wittedly for devastation dig; Thus one should not the art of poets rig, For art is the technology of soul. If algorithms from your machine were banished, If backward savages your gears sought to dismantle, From working system yanking crucial cantle, Would not your profit become wholly vanished? How does rhyme differ, even in its aim, If poems goal is to enhance your motivation, To think and labor for your interests satiation? Rhymes lack would your existence, then, defame. No, rhyme is not a mere societal convention; Not for the norm must man a sound scheme follow. Tis that without it his world is hollow That furnishes its quest of intricate intention. |
