Comments: I don't know what is appealing to me about P5. On first listen they sounded like about 90% of other JPOP groups I'd heard before. But something is defintitely unique. It might be the music, which is thick and extremely well produced. There's music under the surface, with many many instruments and players you may not hear on the first listen. It cold be the lyrics, which are largely cute, and innocent like most other JPOP, but there's also some revolutionary stuff going on in there. There could be something appealing to me in the somewhat "comcept album" sequencing, with repeated samples, and lyrical references to previous songs. Recommended for JPOP fans in particular. Grade: A- Genre: Jpop Other Comments: Bought on special order from Kinokuniya, but also available for rental at JWave video in downtown LA. Extremely interested in hearing "Expo 2001" another album of there's. If anyone has this, please send email. (Ben J. Standouts on this album of standouts include a snappy version of "Catchy" by Towa Tei (of Deee-Lite), a rather dark interpretation of "Peace Song" by ambient house artists St. Etienne, a very dope mix of "Flower Drum Song" by Satoshi Tomiie, and a crazy mix of "Twiggy Twiggy" by Denki Groove's TackQ Ishino.
