Mediteshon [Meditation] Comments: This is one of Seiko's great early albums, filled with fun, catchy music. Tracks #2 and #5 are classics that most Seiko fans should remember. Other good songs are #1, #4, #7, and #10. Ruri Iro No Chikyu [Lapis Lazuli Colored World] Comments: "Supreme" is appropriately named; This award winning album contains a good mixture of uptempo and slow songs, is well produced and really showcases Seiko's voice. Best tracks are #1, #3, #5 (a classic!), and #8; but just about every song is good. (Sandy : cs405j1@csulb.edu) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Artist: Matsuda Seiko Title: Strawberry Time Production Co: CBS/Sony Cat#: 32DH 656 Release: 1987 Cover: Pink; Seiko with flowers in her hair Price: Yen Tracks 1. Price: Y2,800 Length: 45:30 Tracks 1. Together For Christmas 2. Yozora E Doraibu - A wink to Santa [Drive In The Night Sky] 3. You're My World - Bishou Ni Kaete [Change To A Smile] 4. Time For Love (English Version) 5. Forever Your Everything (English) 6. Through Your Love 7. When I Met You - Koi No Yokan [Premonition of Love] 8. Soto Wa Shiroi Yuki [Outside Is White Snow] 9. Time For Love 10. You're My World (English Version) Comments: At first glance, one would think that this was a Christmas album (because of the cover and some of the song titles). However, the first 2 tracks are the only holiday songs. The rest contains generic pop music. Best track on the album is #4, a catchy English duet with Alan Reed (track #9 is a Japanese solo version). Track #3/#10 is an above average ballad, and #1 is a decent pop song. The rest of the songs are average, but should appeal to Seiko fans. Goodbye My Baby 15. Listen!! (English Version) 16. We Are Love (English Solo Version) 17. Crazy For You Comments: This is a 36 song selection spanning the first decade of Seiko's career. It is broken up into two CDs; disc 1 contains songs from 1980-1983, and disc 2 contains songs from 1984-1991. Most (but not all) of the songs were singles. Although Sony considers this to be a collection of her greatest hits, the fanatical Seiko collector will notice that there are quite a few singles that were not included (i.e. Glass no Ringo, Tengoku no Kiss to name a few). Still, it's a very nice compilation with something for everyone. Recommended for any Seiko fan who doesn't already have a previously released greatest hit set (such as Seiko Monument). Note: The last 5 songs on disc 2 are in English. Price: Y2,800 Length: 46:25 Tracks 1. 1992 Nouvelle Vague 2. Believe In Love 3. Eien No Shima [Eternity Island] 4. I Want You So Bad 5. Shinin' Shinin' 6. Kitto, Mata Aeru... [Surely, We Will Meet Again...] 7. Baby Baby 8. Anata No Subete Ni Naritai [I Want To Be Your Everything] 9. You Wanna Know My Name? 10. Fight & Believe Comments: A well produced album with a variety of upbeat, catchy songs and emotional ballads. Best tracks are #1 (a very energetic, live sounding song), #2 (excellent ballad), and #6 (received special recognition at the 1992 Japan Music Awards). If you like this album, be sure to get the 1992 Nouvelle Vague live concert video, which features most of the songs on this CD. (Sandy: cs405j1@csulb.edu) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Artist: Matsuda Seiko Title: Sweet Memories '93 Production Co: Sony Cat#: SRCL 2546 Release: 1993 Cover: White, Seiko sitting on the floor. Price: Y2,800 Tracks 1. Sweet Memories 2. Right Combination 3. Paradise 4. Kitto, Mata Aeru... [Surely, We Will Meet Again...] 5. Wanna Know How 6. Daite... [Hold Me...] 7. You and Me and Time 8. Paradise (English Version) 9. Namida Ga Kawaku Shunkan [The Instant The Tears Are Dry] 10. Twinkle Star, Shining Star Comments: This album contains a mixture remakes of classic Seiko songs as well as new material. The new versions of Sweet Memories and Daite are nicely done, and the Right Combination is a Japanese solo version (as opposed to the English duet from her U.S. "Seiko" album). Paradise is probably the best track on the album and comes in both Japanese and English versions. Track #10 is a duet with Seiko and her little daughter (really!)! Mostly consisting of slow songs, this is one of Seiko's better efforts in recent years, and is highly recommended. (Sandy: cs405j1@csulb.edu) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Artist: Matsuda Seiko Title: Diamond Expression Production Co: Sony Cat#: SRCL 2616 Release: 1993 Cover: Yellow, Seiko with a funky hairstyle Price: Y2,800 Length: Tracks 1. Move On 2. A Touch of Destiny 3. Taisetsu Na Anata [You're So Special] 4. Dear Mom & Dad 5. Baby, Make Love Tonight 6. Hot Thing 7. Girl Friend 8. Cotton & Marguerite 9. Hamabe No Cafe Terrace [Seashore Cafe Terrace] 10. Take My Hand, Give Your Hand Comments: Best track on this album is #3, a catchy, upbeat song which was the theme for the Japanese TV series "Watashitte Buso Datta No?" (Seiko was the main star of this series, incidently). The rest of the album consists primarily of American sounding dance tracks; most of which is unremarkable (track #1 is probably the best among these). Good for die-hard Seiko fans or people who like "dance-type" music. DANCING SHOES (club mix) Comments: "Seiko Box" is a mammoth collection of all of Seiko's A/B side singles from 1980-1985 (60 songs on 4 discs). Recommended for fans who can't buy the 20 or so albums that Seiko released during that period. The title song (track #1) is an original new song (very good!), and the last track is a cover of the song by Wham (in English).
