| 1. The adult does not speak for the girl when the group is asked to report out. 2. There is listening taking place on both sides. 3. There is trust on both sides 4. There is evidence of comprison 5. Strengths are utilized; weaknesses are given an opportunity to strengthen. 6. Everyone's schedules are taken into consideration 7. Meetings run smoothly and in a timely fashion, with everyone participating 8. Everyone's opinion is asked. 9. Both sides live up to agreements and project commitments. 10. Girls and adults say it's "our" project. 11. Everyone's ideas are respected. 12. Responsiblities are rotated equally or agreed upon democratically. 13. Girl have equal voice in decision-making. 14. Adults can let go of ideas, traditions, histories, stereotypes. 15. The premise that Girl Scouting is for the girl guides decision making. 16. Girls are allowed to make mistakes (non-life threatning). 17. Everyone has a chance to voice her opinion. 18. Brainstorming is an accepted way of generating ideas. 19. Girls are adults are talking with each other. 20. Girls are participating in self-government. 21. Girls and adults say "our" project. 22. The leader asks the girls what is going to happen. 23. Girls are making their own plans and adults are encouraging them. 24. There is evidence of compromise. 25. There is trust on both sides. 26. The leaders discovers the agenda from the girls. 27. Girls are actively directing an event. 28. Discussions are between, more than between adults and girls. 29. Adults are close enough to answer questions when needed...and far enough away not to interfere. 30. Girls are planning complete events. 31. Adults ask "what can I do?" 32. Older girl events have greater attendance because they have been planned by girls. 33. More events are occuring. 34. Girls take responsiblities for getting consultants, drivers, permission forms, reading Safety-Wise. 35. The leader comes back "less tired" and more relaxed than her girls. 36. The girls take the adults along "to drive the car and sign the checks." 37. A girl says "I can do that -- I can do anything." |
